LOSEN RECORDS Sudeshna Bhattacharya & Tanmoy Bose / Sangeet Sudeshna Bhattacharya is a maestro musician in the rich tradition of North Indian classical music. Her instrument is the sarod which she studied under one of the greatest sarod players in history, the legendary Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. On this recording, Sudeshna also plays the Mohan Vina, a modified sarod created by her fathers guru and sarod player, Radhika Mohan Maitra in the 1940s. Accompanying Sudeshna Bhattacharya throughout is Tanmoy Bose, one of the most well-known table players in the world. For many years he was the regular accompanist of Ravi Shankar. Sangeet (the albums title) is a Sanskrit term for music. Classical Indian music has its root in meditation music and is referenced in the oldest Hindu scriptures.
