Hot N Nasty - Dirt (2018)

They are back in the lane and continue on the road. The blues rockers HOT'n'NASTY from Dortmund present the successor of their 2012 album "Boost" with "Dirt". Apparently, the boys have overcome the tragic death of their singer Patrick Pfau and found a more than adequate successor with their "new" Robert Collins and his striking grater voice. Since mastermind Malte Triebsch is conceptually based on tonal continuity, you do not have to get used to it, because on the grain of Collins' sandpaper voice lies exactly the portion of dirt that best suits the broad blues rock cosmos of the troupe. HOT'n'NASTY also rely on the experienced Martin Meinschäfer (Henrik Freischlader, Tommy Schneller, Layla Zoe) and his established megaphone studio for sound and production technology.
The fact that the holders of the German Rock and Pop Award for the Best Rhythm & Blues (2009) have not forgotten anything and are willing to live their musical dream to reap the deserved recognition of a hard-working and passionate rock band is evident in groundbreaking titles such as Back On Track and Somewhere Somehow Someday that glorify touring life and the sheer desire to make music.
Guitarist Malte Triebsch and his accomplished cronies continue to focus on variability, tantalizing virtually all the stylistic offshoots of blues rock while featuring the furious Take A Ride in the Pat Travers style and Slow Blues It's Only Money reminiscent of Gary Moore heading for real highlights that focus on the band's dynamic, tightly meshed bandwork and fiery string work.
In addition to all the gripping full-steam Rockattitüde the Dortmund show in the bittersweet ballad Almost Like You're Here also their romantic side, add sometimes a little electric piano and act as a refreshing mix of Henrik Freischlader and Chris Stapleton. A mid-tempo heavyweight like So Much Better Than This could well be seen in the repertoire of Scottish genre greats KING KING, while the mysterious meandering Wah-Wah blues of Land Of Thousand Lies seems to bite somewhere between Robin Trower and SUPERSONIC BLUES MACHINE.
With "Dirt" HOT'n'NASTY have recorded a worthy successor for their 2012 work "Boost". A multi-faceted and hearty blues rock album of purest water. Great class. That they continue to be willing to plow the asphalt, they will soon prove with numerous live dates (see tour dates). A recommendation to all genre fans.
